Another snowy midwestern winter with a small single stage was just not going to cut it anymore, especially after spending 2 1/2 hours clearing my small driveway of a foot of snow. WIth another big snow forecast, I checked Consumer Reports and found out about this machine. I was able to locate one locally before the snow hit and was able to move 10 inches of heavy, wet snow off of my driveway in 30 minutes. I ended up helping three of my neighbors as well. I think municipalities could hire me to clear their streets! Great machine and great buy.

The gears were stripped in the gear box and one side won't turn. Impossible to plow snow with this. Engine stall as we pushed it back up to the house. Now we cannot get it to start at all. I put alot of money into this machine and was hoping to have something for 20 years or so (alot like my lawn mowers and such).

Comments about Sno-Tek by Ariens Sno-Tek 24:
worked well maybe three times, then the gas tank sprung a leak and has been useless since...biggest waste of money ever...terrible warranty, it will cost as much to repair as it will to replace. Huge disappointment, thank god that the 15-16 Minnesota winter was mild

I live in Denver and own a corner lot house which means I have to do clear a long, well traveled sidewalk. I also have a 3 car garage driveway as well. When I tell you this has been one of the best pieces of hardware in my garage I am not kidding. This snow blower is awesome. Starts on first pull. Has the electric start but honestly you don't even need it. Throws snow for a mile. Thank you for making a quality product.
Bottom Line Yes, I would recommend this to a friend

I've had this machine for 3 maybe 4 years now. First year I had it, it worked flawlessly. Since then I've had issues. There is a small gas leak somewhere. I cant seem to pinpoint where it is. Somewhere near the carb. The choke broke, and now I have to replace choke parts.Every spring I make sure that I store it properly. I have motorcycles, snowmobiles, riding lawn tractors, chainsaws, etc. I know how to store my stuff. Even then, I constantly have to make sure that I'm making sure the carb is clean. For whatever reason, the carb on this unit seems to want to gunk up easily. AGAIN, I have a lot of small 2 and 4 stroke equipment, and I'm using clean, fresh gas. This machine is finicky. Seems to want to gunk up easily.I also have found that the reverse gears are way to low, and too slow. I end up manhandling it most of the time, pulling it backwards, because it ends up saving me time. But isn't the purpose of a snow thrower to make moving snow easier?I'm going to keep it since I don't want to spend the money on another machine, and this one is already a few years old, but I would not recommend this machine. Unless you like to tinker, this isn't the machine for you.
