Rated 5 out of 5 by 44 Years Old When I was just 4 years old, my father bought an Ariens snow blower, he passed that on to me, I am 47 years old now and I just used it again in Denver's latest snow storm of 15 inches. It still works like the day I remember he bought it. I remember how the snow would be thrown so high like a rainbow that my sister would run through like a summer sprinkler. If I ever have to get another one..., you can bet it will be this brand and nothing else. Thanks Ariens. February 23, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Just buy it!! I am 60 years old and have never owned a snow blower so I did some homework and this is what I decided on, the platinum 30 SHO with the biggest engine, I believe 414 cu in.This machine is an absolute beast, with all the snow this year in NH I could not have picked a better time to get this. This machine just eats snow including the packed pile at the end of my 150+ foot drive way. Very easy to run and I no longer have anxiety about even the biggest storms.Thank you Ariens for building such a quality machine! February 22, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by All the controls are ergonomically friendly I have a 1967-24, 1981 -30, and a Platinum 24 purchased in September 2014. All three machines run great between two homes in Mass and NH. In the last twelve days in Mass, we have had three storms over twelve inches with one capping off at 26 inches. As always, the Ariens snow blowers have done a great job. February 9, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Now winterstorm makes me smile !!!! Last winter my cheap snowblower past away. Then i decide that i want an excellent machine built to last. I`m a millwright working on heavy industrial equipment in northern Canada. When i first saw the 24 SHO i immediately knew that it was a serious no compromise machine. What surprise me the most on these beast is the AX motor. Start easily, run smooth and a lot of torque. Even the hardpack snow push by the plow is now fun to handle.Un excellent achat ! Je suis entièrement satisfait ! February 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Exceptional performance I replaced my old 24" SHO (1990's vintage) with a new 24" SHO this year. I must say, it sat waiting until last week (1/27/15) to get a real workout. It went through 2+ feet of snow with ease, plus the street accumulation. Today (2/2/15) it went through another foot or so, again making the work easy. I clear a 125' driveway that opens to 2 cars wide and 2.5 cars deep, plus an area for the dog, so I need a machine that can handle the task. This machine does exactly that. I am very pleased with this machine. I've had an Ariens since the 1960's, and wouldn't consider any other brand. Lastly, the hand warmers are a blessing! February 2, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Moved 24 + inches of snow in latest NE "blizzard" My Platinum got its first test yesterday moving 24 -30+ inches of snow from dog run and drive way. I also assisted my neighbor when his other brand machine broke a shear bolt. All I can say is that this platinum sno thro sure did rise to the task. The snow chute directional device can be a bit balky at times, but nothing to really complain about. I am totally satisfied with all of the parts that are involved with the actual throwing of the snow however the hand warming grips are “to die for”. This is my second Ariens, I had no problems with the first, and it was just getting on in years. It had no hand warmers. You’re not going to cook eggs on the warm handles, but I did not have to stop to change wet gloves and thaw cold hands. Great machine! January 29, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I hate Snow, This gets it done quick I live in Syracuse NY and this is my second Ariens the last one died after 32 years. This new one is great and at 65 I hope I'm still using it 30 years from now January 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Made short work of a blizzard I have used Ariens snow blowers that dated as far back as 1967. I have always found them to be sturdy and reliable. When I was shopping for a new one (finally) I was pleased to see they offered a model with a steel transfer case. Although the older or more expensive models use cast iron I was happy it was not cast aluminium. The steel transfer case makes this unit lighter and maintains the duribility I have come to expect from Ariens.Blizzard 2015...handled with ease! January 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Good quality, easy to use Very nice machine, the only improvement needed is to the design of the snow chute. I really like the electric start. January 27, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Love the hand warmer feature and turn assist Very happy with this product. The ease moving around with this machine is great. January 27, 2015

Rated 5 out of 5 by Quality product with great features Great product that is so easy to use my wife wants to use it. The auto turn is so nice compared to my old snow blower. It starts so easy the electric start isn't necessary. The motor runs nice and quiet, but throws the snow as far as you want. Controlling the chute is quick and adjusted to what ever you need. The price seemed very fair for a quality product that I think is built to last. February 10, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very good quality, great power, and plenty of features I have used my new Platinum 30 three times so far. Plenty of power - the unit does not bog down when clearing snow at the end of the driveway. Great throwing distance. Very good quality snowblower. Only criticism I (and my son) have is the Quick Turn chute.....have had difficulty getting the chute to fully rotate in both directions. February 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Works just as I would expect! Prior to moving to New Hampshire, I lived in CT and had only about a 20 ft driveway so I made due with a one stage. Our new house has a 230 foot driveway, so I was looking for a serious machine. After speaking with friends and reading reviews, I settled on the Ariens brand. I bought mine at a local tractor dealer and he recommended the Platinum 30 because it had a more powerful motor than the Deluxe. I'm preparing for Snowmagddeon here, but so far this thing has been an absolute beast.I've cleared a 230 foot driveway in about 20 minutes several times this year. It just rips through the snow, but is easy to control. I've never felt that it was too much machine to handle. I really like the up/down deflector design - I can arc it or shoot it straight very easily and the control is in a very intuitive place. We're supposed to get 24-36 inches over the next few days, so it will really be put through its paces, but I'm confident this will handle it just fine. Very happy with my purchase! January 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by This protuct is very easily used by myself and especially by my wife I like all the features on my platinum 30 snowblower. the ease of use is especially helpful when my wife has to start it and operate the machine. I like the electric start on cold days and really like the heated grips. I give this machine a 9 out of ten for use. January 21, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Excellent machine This is a well built powerful machine. It's easy to start and maneuvers with minimal effort on turns. I actually look forward to major snowfalls so I can get out and use it.I highly recommend it! January 20, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by just love it I was having no problems with it till now, started running ruff like water in tank. Took out old gas and replace it with newer gas, put stabilizer and sea foam in tank. Would start then stop after about a minute. Drained carb and still no change. Finally brought it back to dealer and was told they have problem from factory not cleaning gas tank inside properly causing dirt and shavings to pug up carp and fuel line. Just want people to know so they don't waste hours like me trying to figure out why new blower won't run. November 22, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by performance, reliability, fuel efficiency I have used this snowblower for one season- the most severe winter in Central New Brunswick, Canada, in 30 years. Deep snow, high drifts, wind-packed snow, ice storms, rain and freeze events, and extreme cold. This machine has incredible performance, excellent reliability and astounding fuel economy. Rated 5 out of 5 by All I can say is Wow!!! After a great amount of research I decided on the 2013 Airens Platinum 30 to replace my nearly 30 year old snowblower. Besides all the positive reviews I read, it was because the Airens is built in Wisconsin and had a Briggs & Stratton engine that was made in the USA that closed the deal for me. The 2013-2014 winter was brutal with nearly record amountsof snow and the Ariens Platinum 30 performed flawlessly. It cleared the deepest snowfalls without hesitation and is everything I expect from American made quality!Terry HaydenEau Claire, WI April 30, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This snow blower is a beast After many years of fixing my 20 year old snow blower, we decided to get a new machine. After doing a little homework, we decided to get the Ariens Platinum 30. After the winter we just had, it was worth every penny. It may have been a little bigger than what we needed, but bigger is better, especially when it comes to snow. First winter in years we did not have to worry about back pain from shoving due to a broken snow blower. April 23, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by An Ariens is all you need! My wife and I bought a new home last summer that came with a huge driveway. I was advised to purchase a snow blower for "the smaller snowfalls" and pay a professional to come clear "the big stuff". I purchased an Ariens Platinum 30" and now that our first and seemingly never-ending winter is over, I can say that my machine simply dominated. Not only did it clear the small stuff, it thrived on the bigger snowfalls gobbling up over a foot of snow with ease. I never called a "professional" because the big accumulations were the most fun. My Ariens seems to work even better when there's a lot of snow. It starts on the first pull, has hand warmers that make a difference, and it's very easy to use. I love my Ariens and you will too! Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Blower My new Platinum 30 -SHO blower is the best blower I've ever owned it throws snow farther then all the blowers around my neighbourhood .I would like to see a lock to lock in both wheels as hitting hard snow or ice chunk will make the blower want to turn left or right .Locking both wheels in on the straight away and being able to unlock them when turning would help a lot . Over all I love the blower it handles deep snow without slowing down and is easy to start i can't wait until the next snow fall .Thanks Ariens February 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by I'm ammending my previous review I wrote a review here two days ago of my Platinum 30 SHO and since then there has been a new development - I figured out what I was doing wrong. I gave the Platinum heavy praise in every area with the exception of one: I was very critical of the chute control. I thought my problem was that I could not get the chute to stay in place where I aimed it, but my real problem was that I didn't understand how the chute locking mechanism worked. Yesterday, because we finally had a day with temperatures above 10 F, I was able to go out to the garage and stare into the abyss of gears and washers and springs that is the chute turning mechanism and I had my "ah ha!" moment. And I was able to adjust the cable tension adjustment nuts to where they should be and lock/unlock the chute just the way Ariens intended. Now, my inability to find my problem has taken me all winter to overcome but in my defense (and just in case there are others out there in the same boat as me) let me say this: I assembled the snowblower myself, and for those of us who are not mechanically inclined unless you SEE how the chute lock works it may not be readily apparent to you. The owners manual I have says nothing about setting the cable adjustment nuts so that bracket A engages gear B locking chute C into position, and pulling back on handle D disengages bracket A from gear B releasing chute C to rotate freely. A simple one sentence blurb about how the chute lock actually works would have done wonders for me (and I suspect others). So I'm amending my 3 star review to a 5 star review because the machine truly is a tremendous beast, but still I wish Ariens would make a more comprehensive owners manual. (Anyone thinking "that's why you buy from a dealer and have him assemble it", I agree totally. But the only dealer within 3 hours of me did not return my calls, even though I said "I will come there today and pick it up if you have it in stock, and if not I'll wait until you get one." So, Snowblowers Direct, free shipping, no tax, fairly easy assembly, chute control notwithstanding.) February 18, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great Machine This thing is a beast, no matter what snow. Wet heavy or powdery light, It will throw it where you want it. Great features to go with it.The gas tank is a little smaller than I'd like but it doesn't use much fuel, an hour use and maybe a Qt.Be sure to adjust your skid plates, if there's not enough clearance, the power steering might give you a problem.Rating it high on durability because if its like my last 2 ariens snowblowers, then it's going to be durable. My last 2 each lasted 20 years without any major problems. February 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Top quality product I spent more times buying tools and products for maintenance because there is no snow in Montreal yet. When it did it was the wet and heavy one. No problem: power is there. Top quality product but here in Canada it's get a little expensive because exchange money. Only one very little problemthe gas tank is a little small for this king of engine. I will appreciate two more inches high without disturbing the spotlight range. I had 30 years an amercan "red one" but age reaching me i need a more powerful product and i getted it. A superd well done machineAndréMontréal QC February 6, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Very powerful machine. A tank! I'm glad I choose the 30" SHO model because it has great features. It's powerful enough to throw snow very far. It's easy to start even by very cold temperatures. A very good machine. February 5, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by My third Ariens This is my third Ariens Snow Blower in 20 years, I needed a powerful machine but easy to operate and I did a lot of review and shopping. My dealer, Turf Equipment of Belmont MA insisted on getting this machine set up for a test drive. He proved to me that this was the machine for me do to the easy steering of Platinum machine. Worked fine so far the one time I got to use it but today I will really find out as our first snow storm of historic proportions is coming. January 26, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ariens 30" Platinum Sho The Ariens 30" Platinum SHO has enough power to clear almost any driveway during any snow event.I just bought this machine in October 2014. I have a near 500 ft driveway that is twenty feet wide. I have a plow guy, and this machine was supposed to be a backup in case of a no show. In October, that was my plan. Then came November. I live in Hamburg, NY ... A suburb of Buffalo. No one predicted that we'd have 5-7 feet of snow within a three day period. The Platinum SHO was used 3-4 times a day, clearing out the snow.... It easily kept up, except I kept on breaking the bolts on the auger because I have a stone driveway. So long as I had bolts (breakaway) and gas this machine kept up with the incredible amount of snow fall without a problem. It can shoot snow 20 feet and it handles the stuff at the end of the driveway (pushed by the plows) easily. I was the only guy on my road to have his driveway cleared out when the snow stopped, three days later. What a machine! I have pics of my driveway and home, but they will not load on this site... Rated 5 out of 5 by Monster Ariens platinum 30 Sho My platinum 30 Sho works great. Picked it up on Dec.8 and blowing heavy wet slushy snow on Dec 10th. Machine ran perfect with no complaints. 414cc Ax ariens engine started right up and got a good break in period on that heavy wet snow. Auto turn works good with no problems there. Very easy snowblower to use and I gave it five stars. Quick turn chute control works good too and didn't try to turn back during operation. Heated hand grips got warm and was keeping hands very toasty.. Platinum is got to be the best snow blower on earth. Thanks Ariens for such a awsome machine. Cheers.. December 11, 2014
Rated 5 out of 5 by This machine is a beast! I owned a Toro for about 10 years. It died so it was time to invest in a new snowblower. I have always wanted a Ariens. I did a lot of research and decided to get the Ariens Platinum 30 Super High Output SHO 414 cc. It did not disappoint. I am from Hamburg, NY and it came in handy during our recent snowstorm. It went through the snow like butter. In my opinion this is the best snowblower I have owned. I would highly recommend it. Although I am not hoping for such a massive storm again, I am looking forward to using this beast. Thank you Ariens for a great product. November 25, 2014
Rated 4 out of 5 by Great snowmobile! Questionable quality control Recently ordered my new platinum sho from a local dealer. After doing research for a few weeks i finally was sold on the ariens brand. Once I used the machine for the first time, I knew i had made the right decision. After the 2nd use I put the blower in my garage i noticed my fuel shut off switch hanging off the engine, and leaking gas. I brought my blower back to the dealer to look at and it sat there for a week (they had to order a part). No one at the dealer seemed to know what happened? (no I didn't bump or hit it ) All they said was maybe a couple bolts missed from the factory. Have the blower back now, and it is a great machine. Hopefully thats the only issue I will have.
