  • Divide your work in half with a 22, 27 or 34-ton Ariens Log Splitter. Centrally-located controls and an open operating zone allows for operation from either side of the machine. This significantly reduces the amount of bending, reaching and walking required by the operator resulting in less operator fatigue and more energy for splitting.

Got the larger unit at my wifes suggestion and she was right. First the wheel on the drop stand allows you to steer unit on the ground for easy hook-up. The ease of vertical operation allows one to roll heavy wood into place on the ground. Works quickly and slows very little on the hardest wood. Worked so well I helped my friends with their pile of wood and they were amazed how quick we finished the job. Starts well and is quiet, I am very proud of my purchase.

First one lasted 2 hours. Valve failed and ram wouldn't reverse. Thought it was a fluke. Returned it and bought another identical one. After 1 hour pump quit and that was it for that one. Took that one back. Learned my lesson and bought high end with good warranty. At barely a face cord with two machines, I'd say avoid orange splitters. But maybe I got both bad ones.

Comments about Ariens 34-Ton Log Splitter:

The Ariens 34 Ton Log Splitter has been extremely hard working and very reliable. The engine starts with one pull, runs efficiently and splits any log I have placed on it (including 24-30" diameter oak, ash and hard maple) I highly recommend the splitter. Trailering is a breeze at or below 45mph. Great product! Excellent value.

Comments about Ariens 34-Ton Log Splitter:

Couldn't be happier with this splitter. Doesn't bog down on the gnarliest of wood and always starts on the first or second pull regardless single digit temps. The underrated Subaru engine is bullet proof and seems to out perform the more popular Hondas or briggs & Strattons.

Comments about Ariens 34-Ton Log Splitter:

it splits all types of wood from gnarley elm to box elder, some pieces were 30 inch plus wide, crotches weren't even a slow down for the unit.my son is always out in the woods splitting for us or friends, we split elm, box elder, ash, shag bark hickory and both red an white oak. we use to rent from hardware stores but they mostly rent iron and oak which does not split or trailer very well in my opinion. trailers so well you almost forget its be hind you except u don't go above 40 mph. should have bought years ago

      Solid, capable splitter

Comments about Ariens 34-Ton Log Splitter:

This splitter does what its marketing literature says. It hasn't failed to split a single log I've fed it, including pieces with severe knots. It slows down, but powers through every time. The Subaru Robin engine starts and runs flawlessly on regular non-ethanol gas. Note: Based on bitter experience I never use ethanol gas in small engines regardless of operator manual guidelines.

I have one recommendation for Ariens: Please beef up the hydraulic oil filler cap/dipstick assembly. It is very easy to twist the vent cap right off if even minimal resistance is met when tightening or loosening the assembly.

I bought the 27 ton log splitter last year and have not regretted it for even a second! I have used it to split pine, poplar and oak. It never bogged down even on oak sections up to 30 inches across. I've split over 20 cords of wood so far and it's always ready for more. It starts first pull almost every time and sips gas while it works like a rented mule. Even my wife likes to use it and she has no trouble at all handling it. We both agree this is a fine piece of equipment that is worth every penny we paid for it. I won't hesitate to buy more Ariens equipment in the future but I don't expect to be replacing this machine for a long, long time. Thanks, Ariens!

I have used a number of log splitters in the past and the 27 ton Ariens was the second one I've purchased. Initially I was happy with the purchase, and was happy to have the hydraulic handle in the center of the splitter so it would be easy to use on either side. I soon found this to be a poor design and understand why other manufacturers have it set to the side.

After owning it for less than 2 weeks, and split about 1 cord of wood, the wedge pulled the log back toward the stripper plates, where the log then pushed up against the handle, stripping the threads from the hydraulic assembly, showering hydraulic fluid everywhere.

I drove 90 minutes and took the splitter to one of Ariens authorized repair centers. Here, the mechanic called Ariens directly. Ariens told them it was my fault and wouldn't be covered under the warranty because the log was too big for the splitter. I disagree because I was able to lift the log easily onto the cradle by myself and I'm not a very strong guy, past my prime. The mechanic explained to me that the Ariens rep had a quick response to him, which gave him the impression this is a common occurrence to Ariens splitters.

Because Ariens wasn't willing to help me, I took it back to the box store where I purchased it from (again, only 2 weeks earlier), explained the situation, and they gladly took it back and refunded my money. They asked if I wanted to exchange it for a new one, but I said no because I will never own another Ariens product. I then bought a new splitter from a different manufacturer.

My biggest complaints were with Ariens warranty dept., as well as the design. None of this would've happened if the handle wasn't centered on top of the hydraulic ram. Fortunately, the guys at the repair center were very helpful, gave great advice and insight when shopping for splitters, and I was very happy with them. I was also very satisfied with the store that I purchased (and returned) the splitter. Not happy with Ariens.

            Needs better quality control

Comments about Ariens 27-Ton Log Splitter:

Design is great (1 exception below). The work area is clear of obstructions, the engine and critical components are away from falling wood, valve is centrally located, splitter is well balanced for moving by hand.

The first round of wood I split with is was one that I couldn't split by hand. Splitting mall bounced off of it, but this splitter went through it with ease in about 4 seconds. Since I am only retracting the ram far enough to put a round on the beam, the cycle time is about 8 seconds.

Design exception: The eyelets on the wedge that connect to the cylinder are weak. I can easily see these pulling out when retracting, and expect I'll have to repair this some day.

Quality control: The splitter ran for about 30 minutes, and 4 of the hydraulic fittings are already leaking. Not a huge issue at the moment, but they have obvious drips. I will likely need to disassemble the fittings and add hydraulic teflon paste.

I also noticed that 2 of the hoses use crimped connectors while the others use cheap hose clamps. That is just plain lazy and sloppy. For this price, they should all be professionally crimped hoses.

This is one great log splitter, it will split hard or soft wood , has no problem splitting eucalyptus , oak , ash, jacaranda, walnut, some pine . I have split logs three feet wide with this tool ,what is so great is the nice WIDE splitting wedge , great for splitting green wood , I split all my wood when it is green so it will dry out faster. This log splitter has split wood for four winters for my family and a few friends , mostly stove wood. this tool is so good I peel the bark off eucalyptus and pine , a great tool! It is worth every cent I paid because I split wood alone at sixty years young. My grand son calls me super grandpa log man .

We heat with wood as a second energy source. I've had the 27 ton splitter for two years and now it's time to offer a review for those shopping for a splitter.
In my opinion this is the best splitter available for the price point. It's ruggedly made, well thought out and has more than adequate power with the Subaru engine. We've spit dozens of cords of red and white oak and the machine functions as it did from day one. There is nothing cheap about this machine.
Change the engine oil every season and this thing will be around for your grandkids to use many years from now.
It's a pleasure to own something that you know is well-built is a sea of poory made products.

Comments about Ariens 27-Ton Log Splitter:

I recently retired as supervising forester after 24 years in the forestry industry. living in the Colorado mountains I make the most out of saving energy costs, especially in winter. One way I do this is having a couple of wood stoves and an antique kitchen wood and coal cook stove. Cutting trees and splitting wood has kept me in shape, but those aches and pains from lifting the logs on the splitter sure slowed me down. Now that I finally purchased an Ariens 27 ton log splitter that has the horizontal and vertical option with a craddle, I get more production of split wood in less time with less back aches. I have found Ariens 27 ton to be reliable when I need it. It starts on the first or second pull, runs smoothly, and is extremely efficient on fuel. Than you Ariens for your great product.

Hard starting even with fresh premium gas. Was not enough hydraulic fluid to even show on the dip stick. Had to make a run for some before I could even start it.Put in almost 2 gallons just to get it in between the high/ low lines. The tag on the vent said it should be checked and it could need up to 2 gallons. It was not the [ white glove set up ] that Ariens advertised. It does split well though. Comments about Ariens 22-Ton Log Splitter:

I looked around for a splitter and found this to be the best- I have the 27 ton model- it is well layed out and splits everything, I bought the log craddles and they are a great addition - they might be a standard feature now, if not get em

Splitting some cherry 21" long and the "stop" at the end bent
some. Anyone else had this happen?

Comments about Ariens 22-Ton Log Splitter:

Control lever located so one man either side can use the splitter with out any problems. Engine starts easy and runs well. So far has split everything I've tried with out any complaints. Slight groan on some really hard gnarly pieces.
